What to do if you test positive
Testing positive for an STI is a manageable health event that requires prompt action. Following your doctor’s treatment plan, abstaining from sexual contact until cleared, and notifying your partners are the most vital steps for recovery and prevention. While some results are reported to health departments for public safety, your privacy remains protected throughout the process.
San Francisco AIDS Foundation
San Francisco AIDS Foundation promotes health, wellness, and social justice for communities most impacted by HIV, through sexual health and substance use services, advocacy, and community partnerships.
What are STIs?
STDs are infections that are spread from one person to another, usually during vaginal, anal, and oral sex. They’re really common, and lots of people who have them don’t have any symptoms. Without treatment, STDs can lead to serious health problems. But the good news is that getting tested is no big deal, and most STDs are easy to treat.
